My Flavors of Music
Generally, I listen to more alternative and rock types of music. One song I have been listening to a lot lately in this category is "Molly" by Mindless Self Indulgence. I am going to be honest, I first heard this song on TikTok, but it is a bop. This song is fun to play with the windows down and volume up while driving.
Another song I have been listening to a lot lately is “Kingslayer” by Bring Me the Horizon and featuring BABYMETAL. I have listened to both of those artists already, so I thought it was really cool to see that they made a song together. I am aware that this song is more of an acquired taste if you do not generally go for hard rock music, but I enjoy it. I also just like the contrast between the two artists. It adds some spice.
A song that is meaningful to me would be “girls” by girl in red. I love that song because it helped me learn to accept myself. It is always good to hear music that normalizes what you feel, especially if it is often a part of you that others use to make you feel alienated from everyone else. This song, along with other songs by girl in red, made me feel more comfortable in my identity and who I am.
I am so sorry to anyone this may offend, but I do not vibe with modern country music in any capacity. The yeehaw theme of beers, women, and trucks is a no-go for me, terribly sorry again. If it’s a woman country singer singing about a man who wronged her, I can get behind that. Otherwise, you will not catch me listening to modern country music of my own free will. Again, my condolences to those troubled by this viewpoint.
Another artist I like that I did not mention before is Penelope Scott. I love her music, though I know it seems a bit weird to some people. A few of her songs were very popular TikTok audios for a while as well, but I just like the general vibe of her songs and find the topics of her songs very interesting. She goes from true crime to politics to Elon Musk, and I can respect that. I also just find a lot of her music relatable in the topics she talks about.
Hi Madeline ! I just wanted to comment that "Kingslayer" is one of my all time favorites. I really like how their voices sounded on the track, but I don't listen to Bring Me the Horizon much, but I do like some BABYMETAL. Also I can relate on the country music part because I just don't vibe with it, it's either about girls, trucks or beer not my taste lol.
ReplyDeleteaaaa girl in red! I love her music as well. She has definitely helped me accept myself as well. Since I went to Catholic for 13 years, I was mainly told that I was sinning and that I should be ashamed of myself, so obviously I don't have the best self esteem or confidence (we love internalized homophobia, right?). girl in red has definitely helped me though. I love "girls" but I also really like "we fell in love in october" and "i wanna be your girlfriend". And I totally agree on the country music. In my city it's really popular with people, but I could never get behind it once I started actually listening to the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteI love Molly, Kingslayer, girls, and Lotta True Crime! I love the hard rock, it sounds best with the volume up! girl in red has also helped me accept my identity. I would listen to i wanna be your girlfriend over and over when I was starting to figuring out my identity. And I don't vibe with country music that much either.
